After reading the book and learning about the sinkhole activity that has been occurring in The Villages (some just this past week), I crossed it off my list of places for consideration. It is very built up unless you are right up against the Everglades. The Villages near Ocala Florida claims to offer its residents more amenities than anywhere else on the planet.
No gators here, it gets to cold in the winter, as low as 20 F. I love my neighbors, the low traffic, the many clubs and different things to do.

Thats understandable, because even though these fees wont be as high as things like your mortgage (assuming you dont pay cash, some people do of course) or your property taxes, they can amount to a decent chunk of change each month.

One of the reasons the population of Florida continues to grow is the low cost of living relative to other states. Small home would probably run you about $500.00 a year (stay outside of city limits)and the money u save on lot rent would really allow u to take a nice vacation every year.
If you do play, residents are entitled to discounted rates. Casey: I will retire in 2018 and plan on renting in Mesa during the hottest months to test the dry heat.
Also, in some communities (The Villages being one of them) you could have the same exact type of house as your neighbor, and depending on when you purchased, your fees could be different from theirs.
