After you've attached the boards to each other using 1 1/4 Kreg screws drill more pocket holes around the perimeter of the entire piece. Your frame should be all built now.
Hi Ana, I am wanting to make this table but would like it to have another 2x6 on top so it is 28" wide, to do this would I just add on 6 inches to all the pieces of the frame that go width wise? Measure 2 1/4 inches up from the bottom leg for placement.

Yes, she does mention early in the video that the cuts can also be made with a circular saw. You'll notice the fir 22's used in this project really took the solution well. Just treated the wood pieces individually with outdoor wood preservative.

The solution works very well on fir. Then, using wood glue and 1 1/4" pocket hole screws, attach the 11" pieces to the 36" pieces to form 2 rectangles. So glad to hear!
Thankfully I had extra wood and could trace the angles I needed. Once the mixture is made, simply brush the solution on the wood.

Lift the shelf into place and attach each end of the shelf to the lower end rails using 2 1/2 Kreg Screws. Make sure to check for square as you do this. To cut a 60 degree angle safely I built a jig.

We all agreed that the holes helped give the coffee table character. I came across a table from Ana-White.com that I loved, but modified it a bit because I wanted a breadboard style top. Think this is it, love it :)
A vinegar and steel wool mixture will distress your wood and give it more of a barnwood look. Another person mentioned in his comments that he had the cuts made at Home Depot where he purchased his wood. Make sure to keep marks random so they look natural and don't overdo the distressing! Semi-Gloss Polyurathane This is a simple build, but does require a little skill. I simply nailed 14 boards together in a triangle shape. Drill pocket holes so they line up to go in all 5 boards as shown below. Drill pocket holes in both ends of each board. This will make the bottom 4" off the ground. I used one coat of Varathane Golden Oak, applied with a disposable shop towel.

I ended up having to pre-drill all my holes. What I am needing to know is will a saw with miter angles of 45 degrees left and right work for this table?

I love this table and the instructions were easy to follow. I actually used 2x4s for the Xs on my coffee table. Fill any gaps or holes in the table top with wood filler.
Attach one of the 2x6 @ 18" in about the center of the coffee table with two screws per joint and glue. I borrowed a saw from my MIL. Then take 2 1/2 kreg screws and attach the side rails to each 24 end piece. Use an orbital sander and 120 grit sandpaper to smooth the table. Place first long X piece in the coffee table end and attach with glue and screw from top and bottom. Spread wood glue on the edges of each board, and sandwich them together, using bar clamps to keep them tight. I did NOT fill any holes (you can see the screw holes in the photos). Set second X piece along side first, and mark where the two pieces cross. Would you possibly have plans for a bench 3ish feet long? Ana, what type of wood would you use?
Don't forget to wear gloves and ventilate the area.
The frame should sit flush with the tops of your 4x4's. Use a clean rag to apply the 3rd coat of poly to the table top. The longer it sits, the more potent the solution. TIP: If heavy loads are expected on the bottom shelf of the coffee table, place a 1x2 scrap about 20" long, underneath the shelf, centered and running lengthwise to the coffee table. This will act as a center "leg" for the shelf and considerably increase the strength of the bottom shelf.
You want your hinges to be on the edge of your 4x4's and about an inch in from each corner of your table top.
I did however use 2x2s for the end table. Drill I use a Dewalt Use wood glue and 1 1/4" grabber screws to attach the plywood side panels to the 4x4 corner posts. Apply the 1st coat of polyurethane to the entire table.
The plywood will sit in the groove we ripped out of these posts.

Since 2009. Simply dry fit your pattern into the side panels of your coffee table. Set the 22 board against the fence and slide it into place. From 1/2" plywood, cut your bottom support- 17.5" x 20.5" (it would be wise to measure your space first).

Use a nail gun or hammer and finish nails to connect the cross supports to the upper and lower 24 side rails. Our most popular coffee table is the Rustic X Coffee table. This coffee table is very similar in design. The big difference is HOW it's built and the tools required. The Rustic X Coffee table requires a Kreg Jig. The Rustic X Coffee table is slightly larger in size. It also has a solid bottom shelf (instead of the slatted design of the Farmhouse Coffee Table). I ended up getting my wood at Home Depot and actually had them cut it there for me to make it a little easier! I sanded all of my boards before putting together which made it so nice. Once your wood filler is dry, sand with 120 grit sandpaper.
Flip the table upright and you are finished assembling the table! Hi Ana, Simply slide the bottom into place on top of your supports.

Rip your 1x4's so they are 3" wide. Mine did this at first too. Make your cuts using a miter saw or circular saw. I only generally do one coat of poly on the base.
Apply glue to top edges of coffee table frame, and place coffee table frame upside down on the tabletop boards. My table's top has been modified by doing breadboard style ends.

Cheapest wood I could get that is close enough to the same measurements in South Africa was pine.

A vinegar and steel wool mixture will distress your wood and give it more of a barnwood look. Another person mentioned in his comments that he had the cuts made at Home Depot where he purchased his wood. Make sure to keep marks random so they look natural and don't overdo the distressing! Semi-Gloss Polyurathane This is a simple build, but does require a little skill. I simply nailed 14 boards together in a triangle shape. Drill pocket holes so they line up to go in all 5 boards as shown below. Drill pocket holes in both ends of each board. This will make the bottom 4" off the ground. I used one coat of Varathane Golden Oak, applied with a disposable shop towel.

I love this table and the instructions were easy to follow. I actually used 2x4s for the Xs on my coffee table. Fill any gaps or holes in the table top with wood filler.
Attach one of the 2x6 @ 18" in about the center of the coffee table with two screws per joint and glue. I borrowed a saw from my MIL. Then take 2 1/2 kreg screws and attach the side rails to each 24 end piece. Use an orbital sander and 120 grit sandpaper to smooth the table. Place first long X piece in the coffee table end and attach with glue and screw from top and bottom. Spread wood glue on the edges of each board, and sandwich them together, using bar clamps to keep them tight. I did NOT fill any holes (you can see the screw holes in the photos). Set second X piece along side first, and mark where the two pieces cross. The frame should sit flush with the tops of your 4x4's. Use a clean rag to apply the 3rd coat of poly to the table top. The longer it sits, the more potent the solution. TIP: If heavy loads are expected on the bottom shelf of the coffee table, place a 1x2 scrap about 20" long, underneath the shelf, centered and running lengthwise to the coffee table. This will act as a center "leg" for the shelf and considerably increase the strength of the bottom shelf.
You want your hinges to be on the edge of your 4x4's and about an inch in from each corner of your table top.
I did however use 2x2s for the end table. Drill I use a Dewalt Use wood glue and 1 1/4" grabber screws to attach the plywood side panels to the 4x4 corner posts. Apply the 1st coat of polyurethane to the entire table.
The plywood will sit in the groove we ripped out of these posts.

Thanks again, Cynthia and John. - The screw heads are narrow, so they sink in easily but it also prevents them from tightening the wood pieces together when there's a gap (I was really counting on the screws closing some of my messy gaps, see earlier). Since 2009. Simply dry fit your pattern into the side panels of your coffee table. Set the 22 board against the fence and slide it into place. From 1/2" plywood, cut your bottom support- 17.5" x 20.5" (it would be wise to measure your space first).

Use a nail gun or hammer and finish nails to connect the cross supports to the upper and lower 24 side rails. Our most popular coffee table is the Rustic X Coffee table. This coffee table is very similar in design. The big difference is HOW it's built and the tools required. The Rustic X Coffee table requires a Kreg Jig. The Rustic X Coffee table is slightly larger in size. It also has a solid bottom shelf (instead of the slatted design of the Farmhouse Coffee Table). I ended up getting my wood at Home Depot and actually had them cut it there for me to make it a little easier! I sanded all of my boards before putting together which made it so nice. Once your wood filler is dry, sand with 120 grit sandpaper.

Rip your 1x4's so they are 3" wide. Mine did this at first too. Make your cuts using a miter saw or circular saw. I only generally do one coat of poly on the base.
Apply glue to top edges of coffee table frame, and place coffee table frame upside down on the tabletop boards. My table's top has been modified by doing breadboard style ends.

I love the color. Have a brush in your other hand to stain hard to reach areas. I've found that it is easiest to attach the shelf by attaching the 22 side rails prior to connecting it to the table.
Cheapest wood I could get that is close enough to the same measurements in South Africa was pine.
