The property is beautiful but the rooms are not nice , air condition is too loud , the bathroom light did not work and make a horrible sound , they did not make the room , cost is too elevated for this hotel . there is ample parking at the hotel why is it necessary to charge $40 per day, this was our fourth time staying at the Viking. Its a bit tired and the service is terrible. I think they are leaving a lot of money in the table by handling the room service in this way. The biggest bummer of this hotel is the $40 a night to park (which isn't real transparent on their website.) Respect the privacy of others. To start although you pay $45 per night for vallet, the vallet guys let us struggle up & down the front steps with our luggage both coming & going with no offer to assist us (and no, its wasnt extremely busy.

The next time you're in town, please come see us again. Also beware of the hidden (costly) fees ie $40 for parking, and they only have valet and $35 for a "resort fee" even though we were literally there for 10 hours and didn't make use of any of the facilities. A mail tube runs from the top floor of the hotel to the mailbox in the lobby. The historic wing of the Hotel Viking was built in 1926 as a hotel for guests attending parties in the surrounding mansions.

Today, the 40-acre luxury property includes the original New England-style shingled mansion, along with private guest cottages, a beach, and a small marina.

The biggest bummer of this hotel is the $40 a night to park (which isn't real transparent on their website.) Respect the privacy of others. To start although you pay $45 per night for vallet, the vallet guys let us struggle up & down the front steps with our luggage both coming & going with no offer to assist us (and no, its wasnt extremely busy.

The hotel could do a few things better. Comfortable bed, nice bar in lobby. We stayed three nights and the room never got cleaned. Beds were super comfy.
Very basic amenities in the room. A car isn't necessary for exploring Newport and parking can be tough to find throughout the city during high season.

I was surprised that it was run so poorly. -- the point being you could hear way too much, which woke us up in the middle of the night. Hotel restaurant not open until 10am on Sundays. Overall we were disappointed with our stay- especially considering the price. We had to go hunting for clean towels!
The next time you're in town, please come see us again. Also beware of the hidden (costly) fees ie $40 for parking, and they only have valet and $35 for a "resort fee" even though we were literally there for 10 hours and didn't make use of any of the facilities. A mail tube runs from the top floor of the hotel to the mailbox in the lobby. The historic wing of the Hotel Viking was built in 1926 as a hotel for guests attending parties in the surrounding mansions.

Today, the 40-acre luxury property includes the original New England-style shingled mansion, along with private guest cottages, a beach, and a small marina.
