A good compliment getter that really shines in the winter. Instead, the grapefruit feels a bit aged, mature. This is my second review now that I have a full bottle. As a Chanel perfume fan, At first I was slightly underwhelmed with this scent. I have had a bottle of original Chance EDT or EDP in my collection for years. Bonne chance Olivier as the new nose of Chanel. I adore this perfume. Classic chanel!! and changes as you are wearing it. It has impressive longevity - I sprayed it on at 6:45am and although it is now a skin scent I can still smell it at 7pm. Chance Eau Vive managed to sneak into the Chance range without much of a fuss. I want to love this. The drydown is a soft sweet musk/white floral mix on a soapy cedar base and a bit of grapefruit on top. Loving it just for the Chanel DNA. Although Eau Vive's citrus character supposed to be more fresh, sporty and active, to me it's addictive, classy and a hint of citric sweetness. Fresh, feminine, clean, a little woodsy but not too much, slightly powdery - just enough, and delicious enough to wear anywhere. 7/10. lol. On me however it never developed. Seeing the long Dislike bar I thought this must be really bad smelling and I lost any will to test it. It is feminine and romantic. They lack the joyful blast that opens this fragrance, but they're fresh and mildly sweet. The initial citrus burst is actually unique for its market audience and the drydown is very clean musk, jasmine heavy. I am praying they make this into an edp soon! I also smell Jasmine. I think there's too much cedar; and it's a damp, mildewy cedar for me. Wish it lasted longer on my skin, but it's so pleasant and happy making, I can forgive the performance. It radiates beautifully around me and others can smell it when they are near.
Uplifting at first but quickly settling to a lovely mixture of flowers and musk. I gave it to them. I really have trouble appreciating this. Somethings are just funny: my first passion in this line was the Eau Fraiche. It's warm without being vanilla-y or overly resinous (which I love, but not in a fresh Spring scent). It is surprsingly long lasting. Unlike the previous flankers, this doesn't remind me of Chanceit seems like a completely different fragrance. So far I love it. I got this secondhand so the juice might have already gotten bad. This fragrance is definitely not worth the money. It is quite overpriced for what it is but I don't feel like anybody could dislike this perfume. It was a gift and I put it in the back of the closet feeling it was too strong for me. Very well-blended. the bitter paired with the floral just isnt for me. To me, it is just Chance EDP with strong jasmine notes. It opens as a sharp, tangy citrus Jasmine fog. Initially it is like big blast of generic citrus. They always tend to develop a "sharp" quality that is screechy to my nose. Its a shame to me the opening is what makes this unique but it goes to a skin scent and doesnt last at all . Eau vive is modern, fresh, young and funny yet chic and bon ton in its own way. Happy sniffing! It has a clean unisex feel that borders on masculine, and it stays fresh and clean throughout the day, which I love. However, I recommend to try it on yourself before you make any decision, because my skin does not react well to citruses in many cases. I love the beginning phases of Eau Vive with the refreshing citruses. Opens with a sugary-sweet burst of what smells like orange to me initially. My favourite of all the Chance range. It lasted very long for me 6-8 hours.. Chanel make this an edp! A burst of grapefruit..a lot of grapefruits! Since I live in a hot tropic, it's very rarely that I indulge in my YSL manifesto or Lancme la vie est belle. If you like fresh fragrances and wanted something a little more classy this is a lovely fresh fragrance to own. Anyone? Perfect in the heat. It takes time to develop. Jacques Polge retired, and his son, Olivier Polge, now takes charge. i got 4 samples so I've tried it a couple times now & i don't feel any different about it. This smells vaguely different from the one I smelled at the counter that smelt a bit sweet, mine just smelt mainly citrus and almost manly. I really like it. I wished Eau Tendre will work for me, when I put it it turns to a generic white floral and mediocre citrus that smells unisex. This starts out as a bright citrus, but becomes a jasmine scent. This is my favourite of the Chance series. Chanel Chance is quite a hit and miss for me, with Eau tendre smelling like Daisy and this, like any (well balanced) air freshener. Pleasant. Chance Eau Vive by Chanel is a Floral Woody Musk fragrance for women. good longevity. The woods decided to walk to the front. I have tried the wrong Chance perfume at the store, I wanted to test Eau Tendre to compare it with Marc Jacobs Daisy, but I end up picking Eau Vive instead. It was sunny and 70 where I live today and I am on spring break so Eau Vive perfectly fit the vibe! I agree with the fact that this isn't such a complex fragrance as most Chanel perfumes are. I have been looking forward to Eau Vive especially because this new fragrance is the first creation of Polge the son (not the famous Chanel perfumer father). It is smooth but I find it very musky, like all the other notes sort of hide or blend into the muskI found myself going back and forth in regards to whether I liked it or notHowever, this is probably due to the price point and the brand which is why I think it would make a good gift. The Eau Vive for me is at once simplistic and yet challenging. Then the original Chance EDP became my go to in the line, I have it and I like even though I could not stand it before. Like the entire Chance line, this is a heady, potent juice that expands around you and lingers for a long time on skin and clothes. Unfortunately it isn't, to me it's pretty ordinary. It's also so clean cut that I can't get sick of it. Its winter here in the UK and this smells fab! Unfortunately, I cannot find any citruses that I know, except lime nuance. Don't waste your money ladies! I am afraid of discontinuance. I also get grapefruit in the opening. Original Chance too mature? It such a fun scent to wear that has a good projection and lasted all day before I might, add a extra spray. This works so well on a hot day, especially if I'm not into smelling sweet that day. It's so nice! Longevity and projection as expected for an EDT. The reason is simple and clear, because the nose of Chanel has changed. Big love. Starts out a very citrus but mellows quickly into a nice smooth musky mellow scent. For a Chanel?BOWLING?
Why not just give it a new name? I had it about to finish it and will not be repurchasing. It opens really sharp and, well, citrusy and also quite masculine. This Chance seems infused with a large dose of Cristalle eau Verte. Aroma by Costa Brazil: Candidate For Best Fragrance 2022? It breaks my heart to see such negative reviews about this fragrance. | Deutsch | Espaol | Franais | etina | Italiano | | Polski | Portugus | | | Nederlands | Srpski | Romn | | | | |, Copyrights 2006-2022 Fragrantica.com perfumes magazine - All Rights Reserved - do not copy anything without prior written permission. It's bright, fresh, sparkling and just gorgeous! Had to wash this off sadly. There's just too much musk or something in it, and not enough of everything else. It's fresh, light, smells great on me. I'm 1000% a citrus lover, but the addition of iris (and something else that I can't put my finger on) ruins the scent on my skin and it becomes less fresh and more powdery. The zesty citrus opening is sadly gone in a flash, but the heart and bottom are good too if exceedingly short-lived. Eau Vive is simple and straightforward to me - grapefruit, citrus, slight powdery violets notes (but not dusty), and dries down to sort of a watery floral scent on my skin. It's a melange of citrus at the beginning, those who enjoyed the limited edition of Prada's D'Oranger from the Infusion line will like this. And it woukd have been good if it was just so - to my nose, after an hour on my wrist it started to smell quite harsh and grating, and I realized it was the iris. The perfect smell for the classy feminine women. The top notes are quite generic and disappointing, so I can understand the frustration, but you have to wait and let it bloom on your skin - it's really magical. Only coco mademoiselle kinda of workstuff for me but it still smells much nicer on my mom. Doesn't have Chanel's usual crispness, dry-down is musty and has rather masculine quality (and not in the good way). Chanel perfumes either work terrible with my chemistry or never develop into anything memorable or beautiful. I love Eau Vive, and it reminds me a lot of (Clinique Happy 2003) which I use to wear in 2005, so when I tried this Chance Eau Vive I remembered the scent of (clinique happy) immediately. Citruses, cedar and iris. Because it literally smells like nothing. Not good enough, Chanel !!!!! Now it is my 2nd bottle. It's also pretty generic, doesn't really smell innovative or unique to me. Like many others said this was a pleasant surprise. After the 3rd day I was wearing it I couldn't smell it as much and I think if they come up with a lotion or a body spray it will help the smell project more. Top notes are Blood Orange, Grapefruit and Citruses; middle notes are Jasmine and White Musk; base notes are Vetiver, Cedar and iris. Very disappointed. it's pretty and bright while it lasts but then even sticking my nose against my skin I get nothing. You just have to give it the right chance. I remember when you could just tell straight away when something was from the house of Chanel. Unique enough, but not my favourite. Eau Tendre too fruity? The drydown is nice but nothing you haven't seen before. which is always a difficult note for me, devouring all the other notes on my skin. I think this will be amazing in the warmer months, but I don't think it's terribly out of place when you need a pick me up in a state of "winter blues". This is definitely strong on the grapefruit in a good way. Chanel Chance (2003). Chance eau Vive is the best Chance for me. Sophisticated woody citrus, wetness doesn't live here, there's no hesperidic effervescence or water dynamism to my nose. I don't care other Chanels that I know (except Cristalle edp, Cristalle eau Verte, and 19 Poudre) though I have 14 of them. Very boring. I found them much too citrusy with a strong dose of woody musk (very much like sour body odor). Much more aquatic/melon than I expected based on the notes. It should be right there next to Eau Tendre, not all the way on the bottom with the hair mists! It's long lasting with decent projection. It's a big NO. I think they would be great layerd too, if you are in need of a bit of fresh zingyness to your coco mademoiselle. There were simply other 'fumes I'd reach for, and it got to where I forgot I even had it in my collection. It's almost like a very fresh rose, a young blossom. I would say there's a good chance, that if you like one, you'll also like the other. I was just wearing chance eau vive a few days ago and noticed the exact same thing. Take a Chance take a Chance take a take a Chance Chance on longevity. It really has the distinctive Chanel DNA, and, like Chance Eau Fraiche, it's reminiscent of its predecessor. First of all -no pathouli (!) I find the opening a bit screechy but the dry down is elegant enough, although it doesn't sing 'Chanel' to me and this marks it as the departure from Polge senior to his son as perfumer. The drydown was too masculine for my taste, with dry cedar and heavy vetiver drowning out the citruses. You can't not like it and it smells expensive. It's fresh and elegant. This is fun and lady-like for summer and has low sillage and so makes a great office appropriate scent. Got this for my birthday. I'ts a bit aquatic somehow. When others wear Eau Fraiche, I think they smell pretty, but Eau Vive is just not for me. And it has a weird "twang" that I can't describe but do not like. I have bought so many different ones or tried them and they have all failed me. Got this as a free sample from a Chanel order. I have tried wearing it and failed repeatedly. I thought that as it was Chanel and is very expensive that it would be really special. Finally got my hands on a bottle! Nowadays, the EDTs are diluted to the point they are gone almost immediately. In the words of Coco Chanel herself, "In order to be irreplaceable, one must always be different." Simply amazing! It's also very, very elegant, with that unmistakable Chanel vibe. So much overwhelming, reigning, pure, loud citrus. I would have loved this if mine was also a bit sweet. It's uplifting, optimistic and has helped me to battle with Winter Blues. The longevity and projection is not great and I think overall this is underwhelming. Just wow. Like a one instrument tuba rather than a symphony. Inadvertently after wearing it for a week, I'm enarmored even if it's not the most complex scent. Performed well on me, unlike most Chanels. Sillage is strong. Hanae Mori's No 3 is in the same category. Eau vive does remind me of coco mademoiselle, but a much fresher version. Like all Chanel perfumes it develops. I love a fruity floral like this. I am afraid I have to agree exactly with foxy_princess. Chance Eau Fraiche the most. That is exactly how it transitions on me as well. You wouldnt stop in the street for it, its plain citrus and white flowers, with terrible longevity. :) Bravo, Chanel. I am so mad at you guys right now! Of course its very different from the Chanel classics, but its a valid modern offer of the brand. its fresh because of the citrus but its not subtle and light, I find it quite bold and attention grabbing. I think it's possibly one of the least raved about Chanel releases for a long time. by Elena Vosnaki, John Biebel, Stefanie Jhn, Rouu Abd El-Latif, Bella van der Weerd. Great summer scent. Two sprays and everyone in your vicinity will be able to smell you. This remindes me of acqua di parma- iris nobile! It's tad costly but it just means not any woman will wear it but a true connieuseurs. Eau Frache is a bit woodier and Eau Vive has a distinct blood orange note. The reviews about Chance eau vive are a mixed bag, but after trying it and getting acquainted with it, it's an adorable (yes that's the right word) addition to the Chance family. I love it!!!! It takes time to show itself.
CHANEL CHANCE EAU VIVE is signed by perfumer Olivier Polge who blends sparkling notes of grapefruit with juicy, explosive red orange, providing citrus splash to elegant jasmine and white musk. Grapefruit, which I generally don't like to wear, and jasmine, layered with powdery, metallic iris, are a very unpleasant combo for me. Chance Eau Vive, for me, is a big fat watery fail I'm afraid. I obtained a sample a Sephora a few months ago, when the weather was still cold. I appreciate the slight differences and am enjoying these light and airy fragrances. This is quite nice on my skin and probably the only one I like in the Chance line. Wow, Chanelthey put Eau Vive in the Chance line, what, I think it's the fifth one or so, they gave it a pale pink color, and made it out to be an easy, bright citrus perfumeso of course I ignored it until very recently. So sad. This is the freshie I will go to for Spring & Summer because that creamy white floral with the citruses is just so good to me personally. What's not to like about citruses, jasmine & musk? Out of all the Chanel Chance flankers hubby loves this one the most with second being Eau Fraiche. and that one is another crowd/compliment getter! The scent is nice citrus-y fresh but it does remind me too much of bathroom cleaner. Chanel scents are rich & soft at the same time and utterly feminine and Chance Eau Vive does not disappoint. You cannot go wrong with this scent if you like fresh simple, clean scents. Once you spray it it's very fresh and awakening a nice true citrus scent. Good sillage n stays on long. I do have a problem with some of the citrus as it dries down as I find it smells a little like sweat to me but it's such a lovely scent that I won't give up on it, or maybe it's a musk in the fragrance causing this. Most citrus fragrances don't have great lasting power that this lasts all day on me without having to be resprayed. A nice option to try if you like Eau Fraiche, but want something else. The citrus, and especially the grapefruit is very very strong. It gives off moderate projection for about an hour, maybe 2, but then becomes a skin scent which is expected for an EDT. Its pretty refreshing. As a girl who loves Chanel fragrances--for years--I was a little skeptical about Chance Eau Vive.
Like most Chanels, this is a sillage bomb, and it lasts forever on my skin! Its just me, because Eau Tendre smells amazing like as described ingredients on my friends. Such a crowd pleaser. Chance Eau vive is PERFECT for hot tropical weather but what I've noticed is that even when worn in colder weather, it brings about a dark baroque very Chanel-esque vibe and it's breathtaking! I felt some of the blood orange peeking in. Where I come from, we have a saying, 'Nature likes to have a rest on the children of takented people'. I dont think of it as smelling like citrus, but maybe thats what others are describing. The most popular my version Chanel Chance :) . Something, that could easily become my everyday scent. Definitely try before you buy. And it seems the saying has been proven right, at least for now. I find myself reaching for Eau Vive more than Tendre - which tells me it's a winner! It helps if you are a citrus lover because this is definitely a scent for citrus lovers. The citrus adds to the jasmine making it sweet and so ever pretty. It's just blah. Fragrance repeats the same flacon form as previous editions of the collection and will be available as 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette. One spray on each inner elbow lasts 4-5 hours and that's not unreasonable. Reformulations and a new perfumer aside, I like this perfume, but it is definitely not one of Chanel's best.
I'm quite to try one of the Chance fragrances but I'm not sure which one yet. It changes quickly and passes through some florals and dries down to cedar and iris with the citrus present throughout the scent . I sampled and bought it within an hour! This smells sooooo good! The collection was started with fragrance Chanel Chance in 2003, followed by versions Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche in 2007 and Chanel Chance Eau Tendre in 2010. Eau tendre would be my pick out of the three, but in all honesty I wouldn't buy a full bottle of any of them. Chanel launches the new fragrance CHANCE EAU VIVE which belongs to the Chanel Chance collection and arrives on the market on June 12th 2015.
its pleasant enough but its nothing else other than that. It's a very pleasant and fresh fragrance for summer, pretty classy and foreseeable just like the other Chances. Recently, however, I started testing eau Vive. It reminds me of Coco Mademoiselle with a hint of the original Chance. As is the case with a lot of Chanel fragrances, when I first tested this I disliked it. They are light so you can put a lot on without exaggerating and enjoy the fresh energizing fragrance.
I was not a fan of Coco Mademoiselle yet back then but I liked patchouli florals a lot. Wow..now why did I have to try this one just when I went on another no buy. I wonder if the experience would be better in a rollerball or dabber? It might be meant for summer use, but you can easily wear it all year round. In the end, i bought the eau fraiche and the No. Very fresh and very Chanel. The prices go up and the quality goes down. This is the only one I haven't finished. I can smell a LOT of grapefruit and some lovely flowers. Haha! The effect was akin to Benjamin Button: smells like a grandmother, then an auntie, then a sweet young lady. So strange how perfumes change like that. I can definitely detect the jasmine and cedar. But then this beauty arrived a few days ago and I'm really enjoying her! You wouldn't even know it existed unless you spent a considerable amount of time perusing the Chanel counter. Solid like. I am picky and the only other thing I've smelled that smells this good is dolce and gabbana light blue. Eau Vive is not an innocent girl (Eau Tendre), but a woman full of grace and subtle elegance. Tested this in store, oh my word what is happening to perfume houses? The opening is soft citrusy. At some point it starts to morph into a floral, and that transition is noticeable for me in that it isn't particularly pleasant throughout.
Eau Vive is very close to the original Chance EDT but without the vetiver in the base that can come across as masculine sometimes (despite the notes listed here). Chance and Coco are sisters maybe - Coco is what you wear in the cold with the knits, and Chance is what you wear in the heat with the silks. To me, it screams the sophisticated woman. (Pretty much the same review from my old username, just updated). I currently own and love the entire Chance Coco line. Fragrantica Inc, United States. Was at the Chanel store an hour ago to sniff the latest flanker. The more I wear this scent, the more I fall in love with it. Better to me than Eau Tendre as it has more character for a more mature audience. It's almost unisex I'd say. It's not terrific for lasting - I'd say I get maybe 6 hours before it's a skin scent. Very classy, fresh, sophisticated frag for warmer weather. it's fresh and fruity, a little bit floral and musky and it gives me a really nice and happy feeling when I spray it on meI feel energized! Umema: The Perfume That'll Never Be Smelled. I like this. I don't get particular notes in the first hour other than a slightly aquatic floral similar to the style of Creed's Spring Flower. Fresh, simple and nice, but way overpriced. Perfumes: 73,874 It does warm up a tad with the cedar in the dry down after about 4 hours. love it, girly, fresh/sweet and summery. It shouldn't come as a surprise that this fragrance is quite similar to Chance Eau Frache, although they're not entirely the same. I'll try it again, but it looks like my brothers girlfriend, who loves anything from Chanel, has a 1.7 oz bottle coming to her. At one point I though the smell might just fade away but it's still here a few hours later. its not for someone who wants to blend in and be quietly in the corner. Very easy to wear, not challenging in any ways. The base is musky, possibly even with a bit of dry sandalwood, somewhat sensual. I don't know why this doesn't get more love out of the line (especially over eau frache). I have six squirts on my arm from a dept store counter and 3 hours later, my nose is buried in my skin looking for something. This ones a classic. I will probably give it a try again someday because I want to test it on my skin. This is the Chanel for you. Sampled this today. It's a shame it's an EDT. Smells like all the chances put together but much lighter. I don't get much in the way of woods or musk. I was almost instantly in love with this. A lovely addition for any Chanel / Chance flanker collector. Perfect for gifting. When I purchased this I was thinking this would be a special occasion scent, but it is so fresh and long lasting I love to wear it every day. Top notes are very very citrusy. Fresh, flirty and fun. Im having trouble thinking of words for this one. Piahellgren, you hit the nail on the head. The woods come in JUST enough to stop the overwhelming pink grapefruit from being to sharp and metallic. This fragrance is a joke to me. Any more than that and you will suffocate people around you. Who's with me?! The most floral of chance series. Oh my gosh I finally got a sample of this with my Chanel No 19 order and this is so good. Chance Eau Vive was launched in 2015. It's slightly crisp/fresh, but not as fresh as Eau Fraiche or as dry as Chance.
