I've used Stant locking gas caps for 20 years now, and I recommend them.
the 05+ truck can not get the locking door, just a locking cap. One of those mods is replacing your factory ToyotaTacoma fuel door with an aftermarket unit, which isn't as difficult as it might sound, as most ToyotaTacoma fuel doors are made to simply bolt on in place of the original. I own a 2003 Tacoma 4x2 std cab. 
I can't find any clear report of successfully transplanting a pre-2001 locking fuel door onto a 2001 - 2004 Tacoma (fleetside). (1) They still require separate keys (at least the aftermarket ones do ) XRunnerDevil07 - Rocket Engineer in Training! I've heard horror stories of gas thieves by-passing the locking caps\fuel doors by drilling holes straight into the gas tank.
