Although "stuff happens", I RARELY ever see or hear of a failed stator. The problem was still there. One way involves pulling the bed and the other involves pulling it throught the fire wall where the passenger seat is. Take bed off takes a few min.remove clutch cover, remove belt, remove bolts that hold both clutches on the secondary just slides off the primary requires a clutch puller tool ..

Using a three pronged steering wheel puller I picked up at AutoZone for $15 I pulled the the flywheel (caution, don't screw in the puller bolts more than 1/4 inch for you could damage the stator).
