On the bright side i've gone up market and sent for a Red Snapper RS283 tripod instead, which should be 100% better FYI: The Bino to tripod adapter that comes with the 15x70 is not the best (very twisty). The tripod is very stable unless I fully extend the center part. When used with binoculars, the tripod is extended to nearly its maximum height and the column will be extended as well. It doesn't need to be carbon fiber or anything fancy like a Manfrotto, just sturdy enough to hold binoculars. I like the Bogen 501HDV, or whatever new model has replaced it by now.
